Cottage Garden - Dinner Plate Dahlias w Dragonfly Canvas Print

Growing up, my grandmother's dear friend raised award winning Dinner Plate Dahlias each summer and entered them in the Del Mar Fair. I was captivated by these flowers that were larger than life. Their intricate folds, the way their velvety petals captured the light - all of this intrigued me. This summer I planted my own for the very first time, and that magical memory came flooding back. They stand tall and proud outside my studio and now inside captured forever as a finished painting! This image is a mixed media collage of hand painted dahlias, a watercolor dragonfly, deeply textured distressed background and a couple of vintage, turn-of-the-century printer's ornament advertising elements from gardening publications. This image was specifically designed to coordinate with "Fleura - Peony Garden," and "Bienvenue - Peony Garden" for a shabby cottage, French Market style, garden themed interior designer home decor.
