Bold. Simple. Powerful. Words have the ability to encourage and inspire - to become the rope with which we anchor our souls. The words to this hymn "It is Well with my Soul" have comforted generations who have struggled with loss, disappointment and failure. Horatio Spafford lost a son, almost all of his real estate holdings in the Great Chicago Fire and then when sending his wife and daughters ahead of him to Europe for a much needed rest and refreshing - lost all 4 of his daughters to a shipwreck. He wrote this song as his ship passed the spot where his children had drowned. There is great comfort to be found in times of struggle when we turn to the Lord.
